The iron furnaces of Warwick Township brought Revolutionary notables to our area, including George Washington and Benjamin Franklin. The furnaces produced cannon balls and shot for the Colonial troops fighting the British. The fields, woodlands and streams of our township still occupy the land, as they did in Revolutionary times. Many homes along our quiet country roads are historically notable, and Warwick Township has established advisory Boards to provide assistance to residents of these homes to help keep them as historically accurate as possible.

The Warwick Township Historical Commission serves as an advisory body to the Board of Supervisors to function as a Board of Historical Review for historic structures and / or districts within the Township. These structures and districts may be found on the Historical, Architectural and Archaeological Resources Map found in the Zoning Ordinance. These include Registered Historical Districts, such as St. Peters Village and Warwick Furnace Historic District, to name two, as well as Historic Village Clusters like Harmonyville, Knauertown and Warwick Village. Historical structures are identified as Class 1, 2, or 3 and can also be located on this quite useful map resource. Any owner of a structure found on this map who wishes to complete any exterior alteration is required to submit an application to meet with the Historical Commission or the Historical and Architectural Review Board (HARB).
